Browncoats are Everywhere

Browncoats really are everywhere, and I thought I would share my experience meeting two new (to me) Browncoats yesterday.

I was at my local Loblaws, waiting while my husband had a job interview. I'd already done a bit of shopping and taken everything to the car, and brought the cart back inside, and was standing at the foot of the stairs, just waiting, when I saw a couple on their way out, and the fellow was wearing what I must say was a very cunning hat!

Naturally, I had to say something! So I called out "Nice Jayne hat!" and they stopped and we began chatting. I apparently was the first person to every notice/say anything about the hat, so they were quite happy. And the hat itself was, naturally, one of the shiniest ones made by our own dear Ma Cobb's Hat Shoppe :)

Small world that it is, it turns out they know a couple of people I know (our friends over at The Mind Reels, check them out!) but they didn't know about our screening! So I told them a bit about that and gave them one of our business cards, and we talked about how we needed some place east of The City for us geek types, a geek cafe or some such, so who knows, maybe there'll be an affiliate event out Durham region way in 2012?

Anyway, it just goes to show how you can meet another Browncoat anywhere because we are Everywhere!

And if my new friends are reading, it was great to meet you! I hope we get to see you at a shindig some time :)

Cheers!

Total Donation for 2011!

I'm pleased, at long last, to be able to announce our final, total donation for 2011!

Including proceeds from our Can't Stop the Serenity event in June, our Dr. Horrible screening in September, and all the donations collected at conventions and shindigs over the summer, this year's grand total is:

$8890 US!!!

Once again, an outstanding amount!

So far, only one city has reported a greater donation total, so it's looking like we may be the second highest city again this year! Well done; we could not have done it without your support! So thank you once more for supporting us, and thereby Equality Now, again this year.

We continue to prove that Browncoats are mighty!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported us, all our sponsors and merchandise partners, and everyone who worked hard to put on the event! You are mighty!!
