Thank you!

An estimated 260 people braved the G20 summit and came out to celebrate Joss Whedon's Serenity. We are still tallying up the expenses but this is definitely our best year yet.
Thank you:
  • To the audience who came, who bid, who bought.
  • To the many people and organizations who donated to the auction.
  • To companies such as Abbyshot Clothiers, QMX and Ben Bella Books who gave us a discount on their goods allowing us to sell them at a good price but still make money for Equality Now.
  • To the Organizing Committee who started working on this year's event as soon as last year's was over.
And to Joss Whedon who made Serenity in the first place, making all of this possible.

Still Flying

6 years after the movie came out this can describe the Browncoat fandom. But it is also the name of a new book about Firefly by Titan Books.
And in today's mail was a copy of this book, signed by Jose Molina. Molina wrote 2 of the 13 episodes of Firefly and one of the short stories in Still Flying and he graciously agreed to sign a copy for us.
Fans of Nathan Fillion will also recognize Molina's name on Castle credits and soon, on the new TV show Haven.
Bonus - an interview with Jose Molina.

The hero of Canton

It's easy enough to get a hat from Ma Cobb. You can just order one. But getting one with a tag signed by Adam Baldwin? That you can only get at our auction.  (Remember , it is a cash only auction)

Time for more Jewel Staite don't you think?

Why the Kaylee Little Damn Hero Maquette.
The one that is sold out.
She signed it on the base, right by Kaylee's feet.  This one is an extra special item.

The auction has something for every fandom! Better save Wallace and Gromit though before it is too late!

Don't let the Alliance keep you from the screening.

The G20 and the screening.
We do not expect the summit to have any impact on the screening except for people who normally drive into Toronto using the Gardner or Lakeshore. Avoid anywhere between Queen St and the Lake, Spadina to Yonge
See the map.
According to the Torontoist:
"All 400-series highways (427 occasionally excepted) are open. Aside from other traffic stoppage due to protests and civil unrest—remember, the official protest zone is Queen’s Park, -the city streets are running as usual.
People can move about the city and, while some downtown attractions are closing, others, like the ROM with Terracotta Warriors [opening June 26], are opening massive global exhibitions that weekend.”
And the ROM is of course, not far from the Bloor.
We know of one protest march which starts at Queen's Park at 1:30 - when we will be in the theatre. But it will in any case be south of Bloor.
So plan on coming to this year's screening. Don't let the Alliance push you around! ;-)

June 18th update. As dignitaries fly into the airport, they will take the 401 collectors eastbound to the 427 southbound.
It looks as though the 401 express will remain open during those times and once past the 427 it will be clear sailing.

Last year at San Diego Comic Con, Fox released an exclusive  limited DVD of the First Season of Dollhouse. It had a Comic Con exclusive faceplate, and a lenticular letter from Joss.
To make it more special, one of your Organizing Committee members stood in line for hours to get it signed by
Joss   Eliza   Enver   Dichen   & Fran

and then it was donated to the 2010 Can't Stop The Serenity Auction. Will you be the one to take this home?

It's an XBOX 360!

The generosity of our donors never ceases to amaze us. This time Alun Lewis was the wonderful donor.
Take a look at this- A new XBOX 360 for our Auction.
But that's not all. As many of you know, some of our favourite actors have done the voices for an XBOX game.  And we got 2 of them to sign a copy for us. For You! Yes, it is indeed Halo 3 - signed by Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk.
Take a look at Alan doing some recording of the game.

Beautiful pendant

We have 2 silver pendants to auction off this year. The picture shows you how well crafted it is, but doesn't give you an idea of the weight. This is not a thin little piece of jewellry.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Package

Fans of Firefly and Serenity appreciate other Joss Whedon works. Many of us started with Buffy. And for those people, we have a special package. A playbill from the London production of Six Degrees of Separation, starring Anthony Stewart Head and signed by him.

A sheet signed by Camden Toy with 3 of his most famous appearances on Buffy.

A Conversations with Dead People Ouija Board, and just to refresh your memory, the book Bite Me by Nikki Stafford.

Probably one of the prettiest things we've auctioned off.

This is a backlit image taken from the North American Poster. It is in a small light box, with a plug  at the back
